Review of Mysterious Skin (2005) by Lawrence P — 03 Jan 2009
My first gregg araki film.
I had no idea what I was getting into. I got it because it had the guy from 3rd Rock and the chic form Buffy lol.
Turns out I had stumbled on something which would impact the rest of my film watching life.
Shocking, Moving.
What makes it so special and so Araki-esque is its ability to take something that shocking, disgusting, sick and heartbreaking, and make you envy it. haunting yet beautiful, disturbing and heartbreaking.
Even though, imo, brady corbet was a bit rubbish, this film is perfectly made, and im glad that its shot gregg araki and joseph gordon levitt into stardom.
