Review of Mysterious Skin (2005) by Ryan H — 22 Jan 2009
This movie turned out to be different than I expected. Some of the dialogue was a bit obvious. I thought that Joseph Gordon Levitt did an incredible job and the message in the story is different than you would think you would get out of it.
The only thing is that I felt like there were some "sex scenes" that could have been left out. Some of them definitely had a purpose and we needed to see what was shown, but others felt like Araki was just finding ways to fill the time.
Overall the film was great. I was very surprised by the religious undertones I felt in it.
