Review of Mysterious Skin (2005) by Andrew S — 04 Jan 2010
A brilliant gem of a film. This is perhaps my favorite indie film of all time, thus far. Not only is it Gregg Araki's best film to date but it made me realize just what an outstanding actor Joseph Gordon Levitt is, I've been a fan of his ever since.
Not only is it brave enough to tackle a very taboo subject in a very tasteful way but it's a beautifully crafted film about the loss of childhood innocence and the effects it has on that individual for life.
The entire cast gives outstanding performances even Michelle Tranchenberg...who since her days a child actress has performed mediocre roles. Her she actually turns out a solid performance. Brady Corbet was also very impressive.
