The acting is very good in Mysterious Skin. A lot of the elements are vulgar and taboo, but the story is not tasteless. The narrative angle is a little unusual, and I don't know if it was the best choice for Mysterious Skin, but the actors made it work.
The ending is satisfying (as in, what you hope to happen, happens), if anti-climactic.
