Review of Mysterious Skin (2005) by Zack B — 17 Nov 2010

I couldn't watch this full way through the first time around. It was painful to watch because of the unwavering realism of the sexual abuse scenes. They aren't graphic but the implications are obvious.

I decided to give this movie another chance and found that I enjoyed it immensely. What I admired most aside from the brilliant acting and the compelling story was this films ability to create an atmosphere.

An atmosphere that I got lost in. It was a combination of the setting, the music and the characters. When a movie grabs me in like that, I can't help but enjoy it.
