Review of Mysterious Skin (2005) by Debrah K — 09 Feb 2011
This movie is definitely not in the feel good category given it explores in some depth child sexual abuse through the story of two boys experiencing such abuse and how that impacts on their lives into adulthood.
It is a remarkable story that deals with the subject matter in a way that is informing and illuminating. Its messages around connections and disconnections between love and sex were powerful. I would highly recommend it though definitely not for anyone who struggles with such brutal portrayals of the darker sides of human nature.
