Review of Mysterious Skin (2005) by Abby H — 26 Jun 2011

Very few movies stick with me the way? this one did; and not in the sense that it was, in any way, an uplifting feeling... haunting, may be more appropriate.

It's such a disturbing film, but SO well done. The characters are just spectacular and unforgettable. The story is quite... well, like I said, haunting. But through all of that darkness that these characters went through, there's something really beautiful when the two of them meet, and they mend some of those horrible wounds that they could never completely heal.

I would recommend this, but it's so incredibly intense, brutal and disturbing. If you want to venture into it, just be aware of its subject matter, so it doesn't hit you in the face, though it still will.

Either way, it's an extraordinary and gut-wrenching story; with some amazing characters. 5/5 Stars.
