Review of Mysteries of Lisbon (2010) by Kenneth Y — 19 Apr 2011
Well, as an adaptation by a master, I think I felt a bit too less astonished. There is no much breakthrough in the filmography, yet, of course it is still a nice job in reconstructing the novel environment and atmosphere at the post-Napoleonic era; and the plots can somehow lead us to reflect what is good or bad in making decision for another person, and certainly a guiding reflection on education.
Though the cast is full of beautiful actors & actresses, the whole interpretation is much less shocking and initiative than the Nightwatching by Peter Greenaway, which is similar to this film in some sense.
