Review of My Week with Marilyn (2011) by Jennifer M — 14 Apr 2012
It's an expertly assembled film, with a few moments with great intensity and brimming with authenticity at every turn, but I wished it wouldn't have been so true to life .. it feels like a chapter of her life, and not a great one, where one week with marilyn is not enough, because really, this women deserves a film covering her whole life .
. I thought this would have been the feminine equivalent to 'the aviator', but it's definitely not .. I longed to spend more time with Marilyn because in this small part of her life, she is often shades of one note, moping and insecure with only momentary spots of brilliance, mostly a depressed little girl underneath that beautiful veneer .
. I always felt like it was building to something more and I was disappointed at how subdued the whole thing remained ..
