Review of My Week with Marilyn (2011) by Laura S — 15 May 2012
I am always a sucker for meta-cinema that goes behind the scenes of Hollywood. My Week with Marilyn does a great job with its performers, particularly from Michelle Williams, who turns in a very good performance by capitalizing on the weakness of Marilyn Monroe that was behind this facade of greatness that the world drooled over.
It is an actual performance rather than an impersonation. The flaw is that the plot itself just never gains the right traction from start to finish. It is perfect rental material.
