Review of My Week with Marilyn (2011) by Heather M — 09 Jun 2012
As Marilyn Monroe, Michelle Williams makes this movie so much more than its just-decent screenplay. She radiates, and her vision of Monroe is far from the one-dimensional caricature that it might have been in the hands of a lesser actor.
The chemistry between Williams and Redmayne is quite dynamic. In fact, the entire cast turn in performances that are just superb. While the film's plot is actually more about the coming-of-age of the young Colin Clark who is trying to make his way in the film business than Monroe herself, the behind-the-scenes look at the dramatic making of Monroe's career, and specifically the Prince and the Showgirl, is fascinating.
