Review of My Week with Marilyn (2011) by Cassie H — 16 Aug 2012
Marilyn: "All people ever see is Marilyn Monroe.".
In this film, based on the life of Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne), that follows him at the young age of 23 in the summer of 1956, when he was given the chance to work as a lower than life assistant on the set of 'The Prince and the Showgirl' (originally known as The Sleeping Prince), which was a film which collaborated the greatness of Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams), the most iconic icon of her time and of the world at that time. When Marilyn's husband, Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott), decides to leave England and go back home, Colin is assigned to keep his sights on Marilyn Monroe, to make sure that she doesn't do anything to cause any danger to herself. So he watches over her for a week and in the end ,Colin makes the classic mistake that all men make after they meet Marilyn Monroe, he falls in love with her.
This film was done well to a perfect 'T'. Michelle Williams was perfect and flawless as Marilyn Monroe. She showcased Marilyn's true vulnerable and classic side that we all know and love about Marilyn. This is a role that Williams should of won an Oscar for. A truly moving and magical film is what this is in its entirety. Great film.
