Review of My Week with Marilyn (2011) by Josep P — 06 Dec 2012
The movie was alright. I love the idea of a young person being thown in the Hollywood machine and meeting big stars. But there was a sadness to meeting Marilyn because she was so messed up. Her non confidence in her work. He poor relationships. Her addiction to pills. And especially her need to be validated. This movie is a public service announcement for why not to tell people (kids) that they are the best and thier work is perfect. It really messes with thier heads when it is challenged.
I also have to say I didn't quite buy Michelle as Marilyn and Kenneth as Laurence. Made it harder for me to believe it. It was intersting though. Based on a true story.
