Review of My Week with Marilyn (2011) by T W — 16 May 2012
The plot is weak and the characters' growth superficial, but for me, this film's primary shortcoming is that Michelle Williams never BECOMES Marilyn Monroe. I never got past the idea that I was watching an impersonator.
Williams fails to resonate on screen in the same way Marilyn did, and as a result several key scenes that depend on her almost magical charisma fall flat.
