Review of My Week with Marilyn (2011) by James W — 31 Oct 2013
Utter class from top to bottom, My Week with Marilyn feels as if you've been transported back in time to when Monroe was at the height of fame and when she was at her most fragile yet irresistible, and thanks to the visual flair, flawless set and costume design this whole movie feels real.
Whilst Michelle Williams is absolutely incredible, putting everything into her performance, it's Eddie Redmayne and Dame Judi Dench that just about outshine the main star! There's a lot of laughs to be had which was a surprise, and the tone always stays upbeat and the film's pace moves like a runaway train, and I love how Colin Clark is always referred to as "boy!" at the start of the film, but as the movie's events start turning people grow respect for him and he's called Colin, finally! This is a must see movie, well worth whatever you spend and like I said, it's pure class.
