Review of My Week with Marilyn (2011) by Jens T — 24 Nov 2012
My Week with Marlyin follow the famous movie Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) during the summer of 1956 in Oxford where's she's shooting a picture with and directed by Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) The Prince and the Showgirl. But our protagonist is the young third unit director Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) who hopes one day to become a successful film maker, and certainly this project is his most ambitious in his entire life, and is very thrilled to meet the most famous star on earth. But he also get to know another side of her, the haunted part that is infected by her husbands and her agents which pressure her, that she's in need for constant drug use.
My Week with Marlyin is an good film about how it is to be a famous movie star, and Michelle Williams really bring us the right Merlyin on the screen. The right sexy Merlyin we all know and adore. And Kenneth Branagh brings us the strict and professional Sir Laurence Olivier at his best But the story itslef might seems to good to be true. Overall a Thumbs up.
