Review of My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006) by Philip S — 03 Oct 2010
The premise had promise but the movie wasn't moving. Make sense? Although many likable actors were in this cast, I just didn't find myself invested in the film. I didn't care. Luke Wilson wasn't very sympathetic, Rainn Wilson wasn't funny (he's always hit and miss for me) and Eddie Izzard didn't quite fit his role, either.
Uma Thurman was perfect, at times, but off at others. Anna Faris was great until the last few scenes. It just seemed like the script was missing one last re-write. Izzard's "villainy" was never apparent/displayed, for one thing - were we really just supposed to accept that he was a Lex Luthor type? That doesn't really work if right off the top we get the sense G-Girl is delusional.
Good idea, mediocre execution.
