Review of My Summer of Love (2005) by Clem666 — 11 Feb 2021
What an interesting powerful movie. In an hour and a half it tackles so many issues in everyone's daily life. Homosexuality seems to randomly hit the two actresses in the way this subject doesn't even look like being the centre of the movie. It bears its name really well as the two main characters seem to forget themselves during the whole plot. Events happens one after another without truly defining the protagonists who just want to try to be people they are not.
Acting is great especially by Emily Blunt while I couldn't help but think Natalie Press was playing like some sort of retarded teenage girl. We have a few informations about characters' backgrounds' and history which make us understand where they all are coming from. The parallel plot with the brother's beliefs is great and bring some depth to the movie.
The overall atmosphere is awesome. Ending (no spoil) is really worth the trip.
