Review of My Summer of Love (2005) by Timothy O — 13 Apr 2009
Superbly acted, movingly written, and directed with a tough-minded lyricism rarely found today. Pawel Pawlikowski has crafted a moody and disturbing love story of manipulation and betrayal with a smattering of spare parts.
To call this film a lesbian love story, or a coming-of-age film, would be unforgivably reductive. Pawlikowski has made a gorgeously ambiguous film. Emily Blunt and Natalie Press are both fabulous.
