Review of My Soul to Take (2010) by Ttt C — 28 Mar 2011
Hmmm... It's a rarity that I don't actually like a movie, but this movie is that rare beast.
If I could describe this movie in a single word, it'd be: Unsettling. Not in the sense that its actually scary, but that it left me unsettled as in, I couldn't be drawn in. The whole thing was VERY disjointed, the plot jumping and skipping leaps and bounds all over the place. And the lead, Max Thieriot, chose that frustrating path of comprising his performance of low, cracked-voiced moans.
Not only that, many a cliche plagued this movie, from the dialogue, characters, and sets to the cinematography, and the lack of complex emotion, which seems to be the choice a good lot of screenwriters and directors make when making these kinds of films.
Really, the only positive thing I could say about this movie is that it was shot at a 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
And the good basically ends there for me.
