Review of My Soul to Take (2010) by Peter H — 11 Aug 2011
Sweet Jesus! I don't want to waste too many words on this pathetic, atrocious excuse for a horror movie. Sample dialogue: "It's okay, okay?" A man with a degree in English wrote this screenplay.
Everything, from the direction to the performances -- Hell, let's just say the whole FEEL of this film is somnambulant. There's no sense of urgency in any scene, even the stalk-and-slash ones (which, by the way, are shot in ways you'd only expect from a first year film production student, not from a guy who's been directing for roughly forty years).
You want anti-suspense? Somehow Craven achieves it throughout the entire running time. All right, I've spent too much time on this already. Life is precious, so it's a shame to waste it on garbage like this.
