Review of My Soul to Take (2010) by Mark N — 14 Apr 2012
When the first 30mins are taken up trying to explain the convoluted plot via long detailed expositions you know it's going to be bad. Especially when the long rambling dialogue feels unnatural as teens explain to themselves things they already know so we can know it. Just excruciatingly poorly written and uninterestingly shot. The teens are generic to a fault and include the token black & Asian characters who are defined by cultural stereotypes and nothing else.
The overly complex exposition isn't spoon fed it's hammered into your face and ultimately does nothing to drive a generic slasher plot. The movie equivalent of a contractually obligated album and just as entertaining.
