Review of My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done (2010) by Daniel P — 11 Jun 2010
Intriguing character study into the life of a man who murdered his mother and the circumstance that led him to the crime, based on a true story. This pairing of David Lynch and Werner Herzog is every film geeks wildest fantasy brought to life and the movie effectively meshes much admired Lynchian obscurity with the unsettling and broody aesthetic of a great Herzog tale.
The storyline is predictable enough but interesting cast decisions and a time hopping narrative lift this above the usual crime scene caper into a true mind screw of a production.
