Review of My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done (2010) by Eric R — 29 Sep 2010
A film about a deranged man, played by the uber-talented Michael Shannon, whom after committing a murder holds himself up in his house. The film tells us about the events leading up to our present situation via flashback.
This cast is really exception with William Dafoe, Udo Kier, Chloe Sevigny, and Brad Dourif. Given that this was produced by David Lynch and Directed by Herzog I had really hopes, but sadly ended up quite disappointed.
The film has some signature moments of Herzog, but like most of his later work it really is just a shadow of his former self. The film is actually just quite slow and not very exciting. Don't really know what else to say, maybe I went in with too high expectations, but except for a few scenes, it just kinda felt worthless.
