In many ways the big names attached to this film do it a disservice: this film is not Wild at Heart-like Lynch and Stroszek like-Herzog. It's the elements from Herzog's recently prolific documentary work, as well as his own reflexivity, that makes this an arresting film, and combined with Lynch's lovely handling of eccentric characters this is a film that is obtuse enough to be challenging but human enough to be immediately engaging.
