Review of My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done (2010) by Andrei D — 16 Jan 2012
A bad film from a good director. Werner Herzog's 90 minute psychological thriller is a snore fest and feels so much longer, with an a enormous waste of actors Willem Dafoe and Michael Shannon. The murder of his mother begins the film, but we only see the aftermath.
People tell their perspectives of the plot in small little fragments, often seeming disjointed and cold. The climax is not even shown, and everything is wrapped up in the least exciting police stand off in film history.
A real shame, because with a bit more organization and structure, it could have been a much better film.
