Review of My Sister's Keeper (2009) by Jose M — 17 Oct 2010
After thinking about, I was a little too nice for a film whose plot took all the wrong turn and exagerrated the whole thing.
Tender and sad, but yet, I couldn't get into the film as it felt pretty formulaic and tries to hard to be sad. For example, one event happens as if things were not already bad. The movie is built to keep secrets so they can unfold as we watch the movie. In a way, I felt it was a distraction to the theme. My Sister's Keeper raises some eyebrows as a young girl sues her parents so her body doesn't have to be use for operation. It sad as one girl fights for her body while her sister is dying. Meanwhile, Cameron Diaz plays the mother who is determined to keep her daughter. I would have liked this movie a little if it weren't for the it's attempt to make us cry. As I saw the movie, I concentrated and watched it, but I couldn't not get into the movie as it distracted me with attempt to make it super sad.
