This is a great and heart-gripping movie.

I felt for all of them and found a surprising (new) respect for Cameron Diaz and Alec Baldwin.

This movie underlines how hard life can be and how hard it is to stop fighting and just let go and let life happen, when the fight and/for control is all you have. How hard it is to accept the heart-wrecking sorrow when you realise that you simply have to give in to the harsh reality and realisation that you will lose someone you love dearly to a horrible disease no matter what you do and that your fight and sacrifices are absolutely pointless and possibly failed - and also mostly for your own sake than the one in question.

I understood the mother and her desperation fully. When it is in you to fight (and let's face it, when you truly love someone, you will fight to the death for them), you might miss the important point to live a life worth living and let others make the calls for their own life too no matter whether you agree with their choice or not.

I learnt something from this movie, but it really didn't make things easier and I found it very hard to watch.
