Review of My Sister's Keeper (2009) by Diogo S — 07 May 2011
Very touching movie, that makes you cry often. A story about death, love, family disagreements, about mother's bitterness towards her own child, and about a mother who makes anything to safe her own child even the ways that make all her other children to suffer way or another. Sad story with only little hope, and therefore you have to be on a right mood for this.
Though the story is so sad, it's also very beautiful and mostly believable story. The movie is not typical clichà (C) movie about this kind of subject, but the creators had courage to show some harshness between a mother and daughter (and other family members) - the way that is more probable to happen in real life in this kind of situation.
Minus thing is that this movie has too much stuff to be put in one movie. And the screenplay struggles to keep it all together. Also some other distracting things in the screenplay, but still I can't give this movie less than 4 stars because it was a movie that really touched me, and therefore kept me concentrated unusually well. Definitely worth of seeing.
