Review of My Run (2011) by Tim A — 31 Mar 2011
I went to see the movie with a friend. We both felt that the runner was more interested in making it to Atlanta than in his supposed mission of promoting single parents. He could have died or been hospitalized as chest pain and injury bombarded his out of shape body. And yet despite the fact that his daughter and youngest son had split and gone back home, he continued to push forward. He should have thought that if the worst happen, there would be no parent left for his three living children. However, that thought seems to have dissipated in his desire to get to Atlanta no matter what. So, the bottom line is that we thought he was acting rather selfishly and not in the best interest of his family. What he did was a true physical feat, but if the worst case scenario had happened, at what expense. And did he truly help single parent families? When he talked about single parent families, he was not very specific or profound, just throwing out some banalities and formulaic statements. Did he help single parent families with money? Where were minority families.
We left the movie feeling that we had been somewhat duped. Tom.
