Review of My Own Private Idaho (1991) by Eli B — 24 Jul 2008
This film simply proves that you don't need contrived plots to make a heart felt film. This is just a story about to two men drifting along never knowing where life will take them tomorrow. Since it is the nature of the movie to drift along, this will definitely not appeal to everyone.
River Phoenix turns in an excellent performance as a narcoleptic which begs the question. Why must the good actors die?
So why not a perfect five star score? One reason. Keanu Reeves sounds like he's asleep. Then again, you'll only pay attention to River. He's just that good.
