Review of My Own Private Idaho (1991) by Eric R — 20 Jan 2009
A great performance by River Phoenix really carries most of this film. Udo Kier was also great; the scene where he performs with the lamp has got to be the best scene in the entire movie. Overall its kinda a mixed bag of a film that didnt seem to know exactly what it wanted to say.
The shakespearian aspect felt more like a gimmick than anything. That being said there are amazing moments. Ok film but nothing close to the praise it receives.
