Review of My Own Private Idaho (1991) by Derek R — 24 May 2012
Its very successful in conveying the hopelessness and the aimlessness of most of the characters, but the Shakespearean element of the film is lost and confused and probably detrimental to the vision. To my mind Keanu Reeves' personal story conflicts with and detracts from the rest of the film, and should have been simplified to the unrequited love and the eventual betrayal that it represents.
