Review of My Own Private Idaho (1991) by Brian W — 18 Nov 2007
If My Own Private Idaho were converted to a painting, it would be beautiful. I'd want it hanging in my home. But as a film it's not so beautiful.
I feel like Nina Garcia... The idea is great, but the execution leaves something to be desired. River Phienix gives a performance that makes me wonder just exactly what the world has missed out on since his death.
At times the film is so completely bizarre; its pretentiousness is too thick. I do respect the attempt tho.
