Review of My Own Private Idaho (1991) by Sarah C — 21 Jan 2009
I wasn't sure what to expect when I watched this film, but infact it was quite good in its own strange way. Gus Van Sant's directing of the film is certainly original and artistic, although there are parts which I think look slightly amateur.
Its quite a sad and thought provoking story, which leaves you feeling really sorry for the character of Mike(river Phoenix) - how much more could go wrong for him? Keanu Reeves is completely outshined by River Phoenix, who I think ,delivers an extraordinarily outstanding performance.
Overall, it wasnt half bad, and surprisingly, I prefered it the second time I watched it.
