Review of My Name Is Nobody (1973) by Matt M — 22 Jun 2013
Spaghetti western that has got Sergio Leone written all over it; he presented it, wrote it and produced it, though it was directed by Valerii. In Henry Fonda's second stint with spaghetti western, he meets icon of the genre in this story about a young man who calls himself 'nobody' that convinces an old and legendary lawman to go against the criminals of the wild bunch and have the best retirement a hero could have.
This is a half satirical take on the influential spaghetti western movement, perhaps made out of Leone's frustration with his label as a genre filmmaker. Even Morricone's score is an interesting ironic take the previous unforgettable works he contributed to films of the kind.
My Name is Nobody is actually quite an intelligent storyline, and while it may not be a classic, it still reserves a spectacular air about it and is highly entertaining.
