Review of My Name Is Khan (2010) by Ashna A — 17 May 2010
My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist.
Director Karan Johar did a splendid job with this movie, although he is on unfamiliar new ground and deviated from his usual winning formula. His forte, he specializes in the soaring heights of love. The terrorist subject is a difficult one to attempt and also a risky one and I am glad he took that risk. This is not one of those typical Bollywood film, it is not a typical love story. No sweeping off your feet romance, and no one s breaking into a song here. In the aftermath of 9/11 attack, there is a change in the attitude towards Muslims in the U.S. SRK had embraced one of his finest and most challenging role, he lives and breathes Rizwan Khan. Kajol, the gorgeous and talented thespian of Bollywood was perfect as Mandira, his wife. Only she can compliment him seamlessly compared to any other actresses SRK had worked with. My Name is Khan has a touching script and it is absolutely riveting and completely mesmerizing.
