Review of My Name Is Bruce (2007) by Steve A — 11 Mar 2009
Bruce Campbell is hilarious (when isn't he hilarious?) playing himself in this very self-referential horror/comdey. Campbell also steps behind the camera, with Mark Verheiden (of Action Comics and Battlestar Galactica fame) handling the scripting duties.
Plenty of references to Campbell's past films with Evil Dead and Bubba Ho-Tep getting plenty of name checks, but Briscoe County Jnr's cowboy gear even make's an appearance. Bruce has noooooo problem sending himself up and playing an absolute asshole.
...just wait till you see how he treats his wheelchair bound fans. While containing plenty of laughs, this doesn't skimp on the gore either, wit some sweeet decapitations. A good 'beer and pizza' horror flick.
