Review of My Name Is Bruce (2007) by Trevor L — 01 Jun 2009
Get out your chainsaws and give him some sugar! It's Evil Dead's Bruce Campbell as...himself as a stuck-up hasbeen actor? In My Name is Bruce, Campbell's career has seen better days: currently on Cave Alien 2, Bruce has seen better days and better scripts.
Then, he gets the call to help out the community of GoldLick,OR to save their town from a vengeful demon. Bruce, thinking it's an elaborate joke, agrees to help out with what he assumes is a guy in a rubber suit.
But soon enough the jokes on Bruce and it's time to fight the baddies for real this time! This is a great movie that perfectly combines low grade horror with comedy that fans will love. If you're a fan of the Evil Dead series or just a devoted Campbell fan, you'll enjoy the loving homages to the trilogy and laugh at how Campbell isn't afraid to mock his less than stellar movie credits (one person taunts him with: "you were the worst part of moonplot").
Otherwise, if you enjoyed Shaun of the Dead or A Bug's Life, you'll enjoy this horror/comedy.
