Review of My Man Godfrey (1936) by Masorad ( — 22 Feb 2009
Never mind the Bullocks, here's Godfrey Smith. Two actors from Sturges' stable, Mischa Auer much the same as in Hellzapoppin', Alice Brady drunk for the duration, Powell in what is arguably his best performance.
For drawing-room comedies (with a bit of dump thrown in) this is in very close proximity to Lubitschland.
