Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Marcelo C — 07 Oct 2017
I'm a fan, and if there is one thing that kills quality faster than budget cuts, it is undue praise. Fans of the series will give the movie high ratings in hopes that it will keep the franchise going and ignore how poorly written the story is, how poorly and one-dimensionally it portrays the rich characters from the show and how blatant an example of product whoring this is.
Now, there is no problem in wanting to sell your product, but comparing the Friendship is Magic generation of the franchise to it's contemporaries, it becomes clear how Hasbro thinks of it as a mere advertisement instead of part of the product. And unfortunately, fans encourage this behavior.
