Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Stone T — 08 Oct 2017
I've seen it twice so far, mostly to join friends so they wouldn't be alone - but I did NOT expect to be *so moved!* This film is QUITE a bit more intense than you'd expect from a "little kids cartoon".
The villains are truly menacing, the conflicts are legitimately daunting, the consequences are palpably dire. It's not hard to suspend disbelief when you see the sheer emotion and LIFE in the characters' faces.
There's great satisfaction in seeing things work out, even when you expect them. It's gratifying to see firm outcomes coming from the choices of the characters, and even if you're just a parent following the interests of your child, you'll be pleased to see the valuable life lessons reinforced by this film: That the ends NEVER justify the means.
Ever. That mistrust and cruelty can be overcome with sincerity and patience. These are things ANYONE can benefit from knowing. Even you.
