If you are looking for an artistic film that is "kid" friendly, then I recommend you watch this film. The film is a take on the concept of good versus evil that discards the idea and fills the void of black and white with color.
The reason to why the film has a low rating, is due to the controversy surrounding the sub-culture that follows the franchise of My Little Pony. Do not let your prejudice cloud the masterfully done references and "epic" elements scattered around the film.
Disney isn't the only "good" film producer. Take that prejudice and "Let it go". Enjoy.
