Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Nicolas M — 05 Oct 2017
I'm a big fan of the show and I sure did like the movie, however it wasn't something super spectacular in my eyes. Don't get me wrong, the animation was great, the songs were cool and all, but I did notice that it aimed more to the people that aren't so familiar with the TV show, and it did a great job at that.
But as for a big fan like me, it felt kinda... unnecessary? In my opinion, the season premieres and finales of the show (which tend to be more adventurous than the rest of the season episodes) do a much greater job at explaining a story and giving both the friends and foes a place in the world. In the movie, the Storm King was just this wooo I'm scary villain without much else to say about it, while almost every villain in the actual show is badass as fuck and have more to them than just being villainous.
I did like Tempest Shadow however, she was pretty cool, though I'd rather have seen her die in the end but idk, that's just me being a horrible person lol.
Also, Sia, I hope you enjoy your paycheck because you were completely irrelevant to the entire movie lmao.
