Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Aaron W — 04 Oct 2017
As a fan of the show, I was worried about the Movie. The show, at times, stumbles. Primarily due to the limitations impressed upon it by the intended demographics. I'm quite happy to say that after watching the show in theaters, it exceeded all of my expectations.
Some of the plot was predictable, but enough of the details threw me for a loop to make the story incredibly enjoyable. The ponies that the fans know and love shine throughout, and even the biggest flaw of our main character, Twilight Sparkle, is shown on the big screen.
This has a story for those of all ages, the humor hits almost every time, and the ending is actually more satisfying than I would have originally thought. All in all, this is a movie that not only strives for, but smashes, the heights of 2D animation put out by Disney in the mid 90's.
This movie succeeds where other studios have failed miserably. A strong story in a musical, where the songs advance the plot, and the action is entertaining. Yes, watch this movie, it's good, surprisingly so.
