Review of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls (2013) by Greg L — 21 Jun 2013
Incredibly acted, well paced and mildly satirical in places. MLP reigns in from the obvious cliches that succumb most cartoon movies and focuses on what matters most; substance and development of story and character.
Right out of the gate the audience is given the chance to build it's own sense of meaning and relationship with the little ponies. Using the right amount of humor and touching, well-acted dialogue "ponies" isn't just a children's movie based on a cartoon and marketing product from the 80's hoping to be resold to those now parents, but a ride that the whole family and entrepreneurial film student should saddle up and take.
