My Little Pony: Equestria Girls is the lastest in a long line of animated films based on Hasbro's 25+ year old franchise for children, and the first to be based in the continuity of critically-acclaimed cult success Friendship is Magic.

While the animation may not be anywhere above what you see in the TV series, and while the story may not be very original, enjoyable characters, fun songs, clever humor and an exciting climax more than make up for it.
