Review of My Life in Ruins (2009) by Nikki D — 11 Sep 2010
The main character was far too "defined". You know, the stuffy, single control freak that would find her happiness if she'd only let her hair down everyonce in a while. Not only is it a tired concept, but it's annoying.
In fact, every single character in the movie fits the bill of every annoying archetype known to man. The buffed up exotic dude. The sexy Latin women. The awkward overweight boy. The overbearing Americans.
The wise older man (played by Richard Dreyfuss, who I believe wandered onto the wrong set). On top of the shameless sterotypes, the comedy in this romantic comedy forgot to show up, as did the romance.
