Review of My Life in Ruins (2009) by Pia R — 14 Jul 2010
Enjoyed the comedy and Richard Dreyfus..the laughs can be forced at times and out right belly gusting at others..
Although it is SO NOT MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING..and it seemed strained at times with the main actress Nia V...
The laughs are worth seeing this.
The critics who gave it a poor rating did not appreciate obviously either Richard Dreyfus and his interaction with the main characters or were so put off by the tired plot they gave up on finding the positive of which there are some if you wait long enough.
The stupid laughs which remind me of Super Troopers if you allow yourself the ability to remember not all laughs have to be more than a visceral reaction to something truly stupid, are fun.
The love story is contrived and strained but cute..
This is a "there is nothing better on to rent" movie.
Cute..funny and sometimes heart tugging..and at other times..you wonder why what could have been a good movie went south..
Were the writers tired and gave up?
