Review of My Kid Could Paint That (2007) by Lawrence M — 26 Jul 2007
One of the most honest documentaries I have ever seen. Very well made and puts the viewer in the shoes of the director. You share his excitment, his doubts and his deception in his journey dissecting the life of this family.
The director taking a first-person approach and even talking to the camera in times of crisis might break some unwritten rules in the world of documentaries, but it all works well together. I felt great walking out of the cinema, knowing that despite the editing which will always be subjective, this documentary is probably the most unbiased piece of film I have ever seen.
We definitely need more like these.
